5th Annual Cacti Convention

I didn’t know that a community would come along with owning a cactus. I didn’t realize that cactus connoisseurs even existed. And I didn’t know that I could actually be one of them. This weekend I attended the 5th Annual Cacti Convention. It was located in the desert town of Bend, Oregon and MAN was it dusty. It was filled with some of the coolest Prick Heads I have ever met (That’s what we like to call ourselves). While I was there I stocked up on some new, cool planters and succulent hangings.
Day 2 was the awards show, and this is where it gets good. There were prizes for Cactus Arrangements, Best Succulent in Show, and Most Unique Planters. But then I got the surprise of a lifetime. The Award for Best Cacti Company was the last and most prestigious award. They yelled out The Laughing Cactus and I swear time stopped. I have been working incessantly to grow my company for the past year and to know that it was recognized by all of my fellow Prick Heads.
Day 3 (the last day) got even better. We all had our own booths out selling and showing off all of our talents, skills, and appreciations for the world of cacti. Before we even opened there was a line around the convention center for MY product. I sold out by noon. There were hundreds of Cactus Everdeens, Gandalfs, and Shaqti floating around with their newfound owners. Now everyone has their own companions.
The 5th Annual Cactus Convention was absolutely one of my favorite times. I was surrounded by friends new and old. It wasn’t weird to be so fond of succulents. I cannot wait to take my new ideas to the drawing board and create many more Laughing Cacti to come.
